I use this for hydra.
STR: 12 SWORD:12 TACTICS: 12 INSPIRATION: 1 Sever Artery Gash Final Thrust Desperation Blow Watch Yourself Dolyak Signet Elemental Resistance Healing Signet Max Collector Stance Shield and Sword This build works great. I can solo 10 of em without too much of a problem. |

Someone else already said it - the Dolyak signet seems to be the real secret with hydras. They're actually pretty easy if you can avoid getting knocked do ... and the signet will prevent that. Otherwise, you shouldn't have trouble with 6 or so with most standard solo builds. I use a really simple one.
Glad armor and a vampiric axe. Then I run that dreaded mending (grin this is one time it makes sense) along with live vicariously. I agrro some hydras, hit them with cyclone, followed immediately by bonetti to rebuild energy. Dolyak becomes important with 3 or more. Truth? That's all it takes (other than the ability not to get bored). I have 15 in axe (axe helm plus superior), 10 in health and and 10 in strength (to allow the signet to stay active longer). My build takes 6 at a time easily. I can do 9 but if I make a mistake I die (not much of a problem since the DP goes away quickly as you solo hydras). Some of the other builds may do better - it's just such an easy task that I've never really tried to change this one. I may try some of the other builds here to see if they'll let me move even faster. Other thing that I do is kill all of the hydras in the first area, teleport at the end of the run to finish up. I don't stop until all my character's inventory slots are filled. I usually get one rare a run, sometimes three. But - as is true with all these farming runs - drops of rares will decrease after several runs. I used to do hydras more often and generally get more per run with them than griffons. However, griffons are so fast that if you figured the total take based on 30 minutes of farming, they are more profitable (for me at least) than hydras. Hydras, however, are slightly less boring. |
